Being born in Italy, Provincia di Cuneo, I moved to Canada in 2001 and graduated from UBC Biophysics in May 2008; I am currently attending Stanford University as a PhD student in the School of Medicine's Biophysics program.

I am studying the importance of protein localization in model systems such as the bacteria

E. coli and Caulobacter crescentus in Dr. KC Huang’s Lab.

My interests lie in pursuing an academic career while applying principles in physics and engineering to develop tools for medicine, in particular towards the implementation of molecular diagnostics and other biotechnologies. I think at times a flaw of academia is the lack of impact of many projects on the community; I am therefore very interested in the commercialization of scientific discoveries as well as science outreach.

Living a well-rounded life is very important to me, I enjoy many activities outside of academics including ballroom dancing, volleyball, skiing, rock climbing, golfing, reading and horseback riding.
